DIY Potpourris
Our sense of smell plays a huge part in determining our mood. After all, when you go into a room, would you rather smell sweet roses or rotten eggs? What’s more soothing, the smell of lavender or the smell of cigarettes? I think we can safely say that a good smell makes for a good ambience. There are many ways to make a room smell good and one of the easiest ways is by using potpourris. (Ironically, did you know that potpourris in French means rotten pot! but anyway, that’s beside the point.)
Potpourris can be found in many shops and supermarkets and can be bought in a variety of scents and flavours. So to make a room smell nice, you can always buy potpourris from your local supermarket. Yes, that’s always an option, but have you ever thought of making your own, at home? It’s very simple. Here’s one of our favourite recipes which you could use in a bowl, in a little pillow, in a jar in the bathroom, anywhere to give a delicate pleasant fragrance.
You will need:
6 cups Lavender No.2 (Blue-Grey)
2 cups Cinnamon Chips – Small cut
2 cups Oak Moss – Cut
1 cup Cloves – Whole
1 cup Coriander – Whole (Spices)
1 cup Rosemary – Whole (Spices)
OIL: Lavender (Essential)
Mix all these in a bowl and there’s your potpourris!
